Rock Out at Geelong Showgrounds

Head to Geelong's Motor City Music Festival this Labour Day Long Weekend. Experience all the music and food and entertainment that you can handle at the Motor City Music Festival as "Geetroit Rocks!".

This Music Festival is Geelong's own music festival with something for everybody. On Friday and Saturday adults can rock and roll or boot scoot the day and night away. These two days are for over 18s only, as the venues are fully licenced, so adults only! There will be five stages of bands and performances.

Sunday is a family friendly day. You can bring the children, the grandparents, the neighbours, the more the merrier. Sunday is a family day for all ages, featuring the fun of the showgrounds, and a range of music and children's entertainment. You can get a pass out on Sunday and come and go as you like, so you can stay for a few hours in the morning or afternoon and return for the fireworks.

There will be a huge fireworks display at 8.45pm on Sunday 13th March, which is a nice conclusion to a great festival of music.

If you like your music and enjoy a festival then this is the place for you on the Labour Day Weekend in Geelong. Come and listen to the large range of music on one open air stage and four undercover stages. There will be lots of gourmet food vans, well stocked bars, carnival rides, market stalls and free parking.

Come to the Geelong Showgrounds this Labour Day weekend and celebrate music, food and wine, beer and cider. There will be displays of some of Geelong's icons, like the Ford, tractors and trucks from International Harvester, and other symbols of Geelong's agricultural past. Enjoy a weekend of history and current day music and fun.

What to Expect over the Weekend - the Itinerary

Friday night at Motor City Music Festival is for the over 18s group only. There are five stages of music from rock and roll to the blues. Bring a rug so you can sit on the grass and enjoy the entertainment. You can bring your own picnic or buy food from the gourmet food trucks and stalls.

Head along Friday night with your mates, rock out or just listen to some great entertaining music. Friday Night you can listen to Sweet Felicia, as she guest stars with Jimi Hocking's Blues Machine.

Saturday is Tributes Day and Blues Day at the Motor City Music Festival. It is also for over 18s only.

Sing along to the tribute acts on the Southern Cross Stage. You will probably know all the words to the songs from the tribute bands. Expect lots of rock and roll, Australian Blues and Roots music across 3 stages.

Saturday night Sweet Felicia and The Honeytones are performing with guest star Chris Wilson. Sweet Felicia has a distinctive, powerful voice and has charmed audiences around Australia, as she sings and plays the bass. Her band and music remind people of the hot clubs of the 40s and 50s. A Bit About Geelong and Geetroit

Geelong is a lovely place to visit, it's a little bit country, a little bit rural, a little bit city. Geelong is the home of the "ute" invented in Geetroit (Geelong) in 1934. Watch these pages for my article on the "ute" coming up soon.

Geelong is a lovely place to visit and it boasts lots of festivals, marathons, tri-athlons, food and wine festivals, fairs and fetes. It also boasts the Motor City Music Festival, which is held over the Labour Day Weekend.

The Motor City Music Festival is bought to Geelong by the team at Bay City Events. The team at Bay City Events also created and operate Queenscliff's famous Blues Train.

The Motor City Music Festival is a great way for Geelong to show off what's special about Geelong and the region. At the Motor City Music Festival you can see some of the icons of Geelong's past and present - Ford, tractors and trucks from International Harvester, Geelong's agricultural past, and food and wine (fresh, not from the past) from Geelong, the Bellarine, and surrounding areas, and all this rolled into a fantastic festival at Geelong Showgrounds.

So come and help celebrate some of the special things about Geelong and the region. This event is proudly supported by the City of Greater Geelong via Geelong Major Events. You can purchase your tickets at Ticket Master
