By day I am a health professional. By night I am a writer. I love the opportunity that writing provides to be creative and share my knowledge and experiences.
On Saturday 17th March, 2012 Motivate You Fitness & Personal Training will hold its annual Liverpool "Survivor" Event at Greenway Park Oval, Greenway Park. If you are interested in having fun, getting healthy, or facing a challenge this event is for you. At Liverpool Survivor II, teams will compete in personal and team challenges, testing their strength, endurance, teamwork and mental toughness.
I first heard about Liverpool Survivor last year, and was interested in entering but was worried that I wasn't in good enough shape. Images of muscle-clad women and men, wearing camouflage and running continuously for hours on end flashed across my mind. So instead of competing, I looked on from the sidelines and saw 4 teams of everyday people competing in fun activities like tug-of-war, tyre-rolling and log-carrying. I was surprised to see that all levels of fitness were catered for; providing a fun way for people to get involved in fitness as well as a challenge for those looking for something a little harder.
Ariel Gonzalez, director of Motivate You Fitness & Personal Training, hosts the event to encourage people from all walks of life become more active, "it is an opportunity to breakdown people's fear of exercising … anyone can bring a friend, compete and have some fun".
Entry into Liverpool Survivor II is open to anyone. You can enter as a team (up to ten people) or register individually and be allocated to a team. Armed with the knowledge that it is all in the name of fun and fitness, it doesn't matter that I can't complete a marathon or that I don't have rippling muscles or wear camouflage, I am going to give the challenge a go this year.
On the day points will be awarded for the completion of activities with bonus points for harder tasks. The team in the lead at the end of the day, will take out the title of Liverpool Survivor II.
