Falling on every second Sunday of May each year,
Mother's Day is all about telling mum how much you love her.
The day can begin with cooking up a storm and surprising mum with
breakfast in bed. The options can include bacon and eggs, pancakes or French toast.
But, it doesn't have to stop at breakfast. Give mum the day off. This will give her the chance to kick off her shoes and put up her feet. Making sure she makes the most out of her day-off, send her to a day spa for a facial and massage treatment. Check out your local day spa for special Mother's Day packages. But if mum is after a makeover, perhaps treat her to an appointment with the hairdressers as a fun alternative.
Meanwhile, you can takeover simple chores such as cleaning the house or doing the laundry. You could also prepare for a family gathering, which will give a chance for everyone in the family to show there's always time to hang out with mum.
Also, drop by the local florist for mum's favourite flowers, pop them into a vase and it'll add a nice touch to the house when she gets home.
Just like many events on the calendar, Mother's Day gives a chance to spoil mum with special gifts like a piece of jewellery she's been eyeing on or some nice perfume. But why not add a sentimental touch to the present getting hands-on by making your own
Mother's Day card or decorating a
picture frame and slipping in your best photo. This will be a great project for the younger kids too.
Other ways to spoil mum and particularly if she's one for a thrilling adventure, take her hot air ballooning, skydiving or something memorable you can cherish together.
Ultimately though, the day comes down to telling mum those three little words – "I love you".
Happy Mother's Day!
