Queensland's premier classical dance company, Queensland Ballet, will be performing a season of the comic ballet Coppelia as well as doing a special high tea dance performance for Mother's Day.



About the Qld Ballet
The Queensland Ballet is one of only 3 professional ballet dance companies in Australia and has a long tradition having formed in 1960. Former Royal Ballet principal Leanne Benjamin is the new Artistic Director, replacing Mao's Last Dancer, Li Cunxin.

Here are two upcoming occasions where you can see the ballet and its magnificently talented dancers perform live.

Mother's Day High Tea
With Mother's Day nearing closer and to celebrate those mums and mother figures who have helped shape lives, the Queensland Ballet will be performing at the Mother's Day High Tea on Sunday 12 May 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Brisbane's Sofitel Hotel.

If the Sofitel Brisbane wasn't elegant and sophisticated enough, guests will have the unique opportunity to enjoy a high tea and see the dance company give a special performance.

Of course, no high tea would be complete without fine finger sandwiches, Valrhona Ivoire white chocolate and fruit scones and a glass of sparkling bubbles and the Sofitel will be sure to deliver on these decadent delights.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite here , ranging from Adults: $119 and Children: $55. The Sofitel is located at 249 Turbot Street, Brisbane.

Coppelia
If you can't make it to the Mother's Day High Tea or just want to see the Queensland Ballet perform a full-length production, then the season of Coppelia may suit you.



Coppelia is described as a love story with a twist. The central character of the story, Coppélia is the daughter of Doctor Coppelius. However, she is actually, a mechanical doll who is so lifelike she can fool the villagers into believing she is alive.

Queensland Ballet's season of Coppelia runs from 7 to 22 June 2024 with shows at The Playhouse at QPAC which is located at Russell Street, South Brisbane. Tickets are x to $107.00 to $146.00 and are available here.

The show then moves onto the Gold Coast later in the year with performances from 1 - 2 November 2024 at the Home of the Arts (HOTA) at 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise. Stall tickets are $42 to $85.00.
