Mothers Day on the Gold Coast – Ten Treats Mums Love

If you're living on the Gold Coast, the decision what to buy Mum for Mother's Day is quite tricky, as there is just so must to choose from. Clearly, how much you want to spend factors into your decision and maybe you'd like to try to talk your siblings into chipping in to get Mum something, that maybe costs a bit more than a box of chocolates. The other important factor is how much time you might be able to spend with Mum on Sunday May 12th, so here's some suggestions that we think are are real treats for Mum.

Mother's Day Picnic Lunch on the Beach
Whether Mum is a foodie or she just enjoys a ham, cheese and tomato sandwich, make it a bit special with a picnic blanket, umbrella and basket and some of her favourite foods. She'll really appreciate the effort you put into it, don't forget to take some daggy "at the beach" photos with Mum. The best beaches to enjoy a picnic we think are The Spit, Mermaid Beach, Nobbys Beach , Miami, Tallebudgera and Bilinga.

Mother's Day Craft Extravaganza Mount Tamborine
A Mother' Day event that might appeal to Mum, that's an investment of your time rather than your money which is for any Mum that loves her hand made crafts and likes homemade cakes is the Craft Extravaganza at Mount Tamborine, it's open from 10am to 4pm at Vonda Youngman Community Centre at 1 Knoll Road, North Tamborine, there must be a lot of Crafts, it's actually open for 4 days! Entry is a donation to the Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire Brigade.

Bed & Breakfast Gift Voucher on Tamborine Mountain
Every mum deserves a bit of a break though often it's hard for Mum to get away, so how about giving her a Bed & Breakfast Gift Voucher to Witches Falls Cottages , it's just an hour up the road to relax and stay in a stone gabled cottage, with a Gourmet Breakfast Hamper with homemade bread delivered fresh to the cottage.

Mothers Day run for charity
We couldn't leave this off the list of the top 10 best things to do in the Gold Coast for Mothers Day. It might be the absolute opposite of the traditional sleep in and toast in bed Mother's Day morning, as it's a 4 kilometre run at 7.45am, but it's for a charity that is close to many mum's hearts and besides, the run is along the picturesque Surfers Paradise beachfront with the finish at Main Beach and it's a good excuse for Mum to wear pink too. What would make her day, is if you run alongside her and shout her a coffee after the finish line!

A special afternoon tea at The Old Tea House Gallery
Located in Mudgeeraba, this gorgeous Queenslander is picture perfect and if you want a quiet and gentle treat for Mum, this is spot on. Very old fashioned, from the scones, to the crockery to the service of the tea, you'll need to book well ahead and reservations can only be made on 07 5525 3053.

Treat Mum to a Gold Coast Hot Air Balloon ride
Yes, it's an early morning at sunrise to hop into a wicker hot air balloon basket and float over the Gold Coast hinterland but this is one Mother's Day gift that she will think is very very special. Make sure to get some photos of you with Mum in the balloon basket or at the Vineyard Champagne breakfast. This Mother's Day treat takes four and a half hours, finishing around 11am, so plenty of time for Mum to fit in a nana nap on Sunday afternoon too.

Southport Sharks Mum's Seafood Buffet
As Kath and Kim would say, different, unusual and nice so if there's a few in the family that would like to take Mum out for a special lunch on Sunday, then the prawns, seafood, oysters and smoked salmon buffet at Southport Sharks is excellent value at $39.90 and afterwards in the outdoor Cabana Lounge there's Jam Jar Cocktails and an acoustic band.

Lindt High Afternoon Tea
Only available Sunday May 12th, there's a special Lindt Chocolate High Tea at Watermark Hotel & Spa Surfers Paradise . In addition to the wonderful standard High Tea menu of finger sandwiches, homemade scones and freshly brewed tea and coffee, there's also a choice of Lindt macarons, Lindt chocolates and cakes at Waves Waterfall Terrace, available until 4pm. Book a table of 4 or more and receive one complimentary glass of bubbles each.

A relaxing Mother's Day Spa treatment
Last on the list but definitely tops with Mums, why not give her a Gift Voucher at Hilton Surfers Paradise[ Spa? They might mostly cater for visitors but locals too can definitely enjoy the organic products and luxury surroundings with a Free EFORA luxury bathrobe included with any Mother's Day 90-minute treatment at the spa, a lovely reminder that Mum can wear it all year round.

Well it's quite a list and now that we think about it, possibly Gold Coast Mum's are a fit bunch that really like their food and a glass of champagne! So whether Mum is a foodie, funster or fitness fan or all 3, the Gold Coast is the perfect place to treat your mum on Sunday, May 12.
