It took some scouring but here it is. A list of what is on and free for mothers on their special day.

We all know there are heaps of expensive lunches and high teas out there but sometimes it is nice to pay nothing, especially on Mother's Day.

So leave the purse at home and enjoy some of these great free activities.

Someone else will have to buy your kid an Unlimited Ride Ticket but then you get to go on every ride with them for free. You can see Melbourne from the Scenic Railway Rollercoaster for a stunning view over Port Phillip Bay or ride the vintage horses on the beautiful carousel. Or how about showing the kids how you would really like to drive if they weren't in the car by bumping them in the Dodgem cars.

Monday Night Mums Eat Free**

Okay, so this is Monday night but why not let Mother's Day hang over into the next day. In a surprisingly innovative move the Manhattan Hotel offers a Mum's Eat Free night every Monday. But you do need to be with a paying child who is 12 or under. Magic.

Free Mother's Day Concert



Every year, the Australian National Academy of Music, Australia's premiere institution for training the country's finest young classical musicians, offers a free concert for mothers. You will hear Hindson Piano Trio Debussy Cello Sonata in D minor de Jager Trumpet Concerto (world premiere) Brahms Trio for violin, horn and piano in E flat mum. There is even afternoon tea provided by South Melbourne Cafe, Burnt Butter .
