If you're anything like me, every Mother's Day is a battle for supremacy between yourself and your siblings, and the beginning of May is a frantic rush of trying to find the most perfect present to cement your position as favourite child for the year to follow.

If you're not anything like me, you probably still want to do something nice for Mum on her special day. Wherever you are, whatever you have in your wallet, we've got you covered. Read on to discover the best Mother's Day events for all budgets and all locations.

At the Eurovision Food Festival , the tunes are just as cheesy as the food. Running the whole weekend at the laneway venue Welcome to Bowen Hills , this event combines the best 'so bad it's good' food and music that Europe has to offer. Scoff langos from Hungary , gyros from Greece , or churros from Spain as you embrace the glitz, glam and glitter of Eurovision Song Contest . Dogs are welcome, making this an event you can bring the whole family.

Remember when you were younger and you would paint Mum a picture for Mother's Day? Now that you're older, why not paint a picture with Mum? The event is BYO so you will need to supply your own wine, but Brush and Barrel will provide paints, brushes, aprons, and all the instruction you need to create a masterpiece for your mother this year.

You could take Mum to the ballet... or you could give her a decadent high tea with a private performance by the Queensland Ballet Academy. Sofitel's Ballroom le Grand will host two high teas , where Mum can enjoy French dessert and French champagne. Children under 5 can attend for free.

The Chermside library will host a maker space the day before Mother's Day, where visitors can make something for mum for free. The event is recommended for ages 4 - 12, so it's less an event for adult children and more a last chance for disorganised partners to ace Mother's Day.

Sandstone Point Hotel is your one-stop Mother's Day shop this year. The sprawling venue already offers a variety of restaurants, bars, entertainment, and children's spaces, and on Mother's Day, they will add a buffet breakfast and buffet lunch to the offerings. Any time, every day, the Windorah St, Stafford Northside Flower Market puts together arrangements to suit all tastes and occasions, making them a good choice for those of you who forgot it was Mother's Day until you logged in to Facebook. Beware, though: this is in the splurge category because if you're leaving it until Mother's Day to buy flowers, you have no choice.

Bands and bites by the beautiful bay - what more could Mum want? Little Bayside Park at Manly will host this free, family-friendly fair, offering performances by local swing and brass bands. There will also be a selection of food trucks and market stalls available. Bring a blanket and get in early to nab a good spot.

Sometimes, the best thing you can give Mum is a little peace and quiet. Give your mother an afternoon of rest and tranquility at the Mother's Day Mini Yoga Retreat at Stretch Yoga Holland Park. Take the ferry to Moreton Island to give your mother a tropical beach experience without the big price tag. Moreton Island is full of pristine beaches, sand dunes, and friendly dolphins that can be hand fed. A butterfly planting day is more than a gift for mum - it's a gift for the planet. The Logan City Council are hosting this community event , where people will come together to plant a butterfly-friendly garden. We all know mums are sweet as, which is why the Sweet As Dessert festival is a great option for sweet tooth mothers. Queensland's best dessert makers will gather to offer a veritable cornucopia of delights. The event will also host a Mother's Day morning tea and a 'Sweet As Mother' competition.
