Celebrate Mother's Day with a difference. Take mum, family and friends and visit the rare and remarkable rural landscape at Days Mill, 75 Day Road, Murchison from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May 2019. Entry is FREE and you can even join a guided tour at 11am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm. This is a well-preserved example of 19th Century Mill technology in Australia, and an important historic place in the region.
Enjoy the ambience of its recent conservation and repair works to the Gatehouse, Mill and Residence. It's open to the public as part of the Australian Heritage Festival.The Festival recognises and celebrates the significance of our natural, historic and indigenous heritage places and ensures they are valued by Australians, protected for future generations and cared for by the community. The theme for 2019 is Connecting People, Places and the Past.
Bookings are not required to visit the Mill or attend the tours, bur you are urged to wear suitable clothing, footwear and sun protection. Bring a water bottle to keep thirst at bay. There's lots of fun for the whole family with a variety of stalls, an ice-cream and coffee van, and the Murchison CFA on site with a good old Aussie BBQ. The Shepparton and District Amateur Radio Club has a radio set up to participate in the Mills on the Air event that connects mills from all over the world, including the neighbouring Andersons Mill in Smeaton.
The Australian Heritage Festival 2019 has been ongoing since 18 April, and you have till 19 May 2019 before it's all over.
