The Mother's Day Classic is an annual fun run that is held all around Australia each Mother's Day, to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. Here in Canberra, the fun run starts at Rond Terrace at Commonwealth Park and follows the central loop of Lake Burley Griffin between the two bridges. Choose between the 5km walk, 5km run or the 10km run (which is two laps of the loop). The day begins at 7am. Before each event begins, there will be a minute's silence. Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer.
Also on the day, there will be warm-up aerobics, roving performers, a food court, free massages, entertainment and a kid's activity area with face painting and a jumping castle. A number of delegates, celebrities and sponsors will be giving brief talks on the main stage and handing out awards after the races. There will also be an award for best dressed on the day!
See the Mother's Day Classic website for details and registrations.
