Typical Gemini, with the concentration span of a gnat & not one for sitting still. My old Da used to say that "you're a long time dead". So my mantra is get busy living. Please join me for more at brizzymaysbooksandbruschettasite.wordpress.com

I'm a mother. I've been a mother for a long time. Mother's Day to me has never been about flash restaurants and lots of bells and whistles. With little ones to feed and to educate, and mortgage payments to meet, with a busy lifestyle Mother's Day was always about sharing time special together; making special memories.

So I think I have come up with the perfect day to help your family make memories.

Bribie Island is the perfect day trip, particularly during autumn. Only 70 kms north of Brisbane and sitting at the most northern point of Moreton Bay, Bribie is the perfect escape from the city.

On the Pumistone Passage side of the island, just to the right of the bridge, I recommend parking the car and taking the walk along the pathway right up to Brennan Park, just by the Bongaree Shopping Centre and jetty.

The walk along the waterside is flat, paved and easy to manoeuvre, even for non-walkers.

It is a gentle walk littered with seats under shady trees on which to rest whilst the children run along the sand chasing crabs and pelicans. There is playground equipment along the route which makes another reason to stop and enjoy the stunning views whilst allowing the kiddies to burn some energy. The path winds along the shoreline and every view is different.

An easy and pleasant walk

When you get to the end, simply turn around and walk back to where you parked the car. Think the kids will be tired? Probably, but they will just love looking at the rosellas nesting in tree trunks, splashing in the water's edge, and even building a sandcastle at low tide.

And mums, you will have walked 6,240 steps towards that goal of 10,000 steps for good health.

And you know the perfect reward?

The Bribie Island Hotel, on the other side of the bridge, at 29 Sylvan Beach Esplande, Bellara, is the home of a family friendly bistro.

Charlie's Bistro has indoor and outdoor eating, and my wicked recommendation is to share the 'Super Ice Cream Sundae', containing chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream topped with marshmallows, whipped cream, wafers, crushed honeycomb, and drizzled with chocolate fudge sauce. Order one with several spoons so you can share for $9.95.

Yes, wicked, but a real treat

Does this sound like a good day? I think it's reason enough to make any day Mother's Day, don't you?
