Remembering mums on Mother's Day
For many people, Mother's Day is a day of joy to spend time with their Mums and make them feel special for all they do for us. But for those who have lost their mums, it can be a difficult day, igniting feelings of loss, sadness, anxiety and depression.

With this in mind, Motherless Daughters Awareness Week is recognised from 3 to 9 May, 2020. The week is dedicated to raising awareness that Motherless Daughters Australia represents, inform, support and connect women and girls whose mums have died, to help navigate the everyday and life's major milestones with the support of their mum.

In 2020, they are dedicating the week to raise awareness to the wider community and friends and families of motherless daughters.

Motherless Daughters Australiais a not for profit organisation which aims to help women and girls navigate the emotional distress and impact caused by losing their mothers.

They are committed to honouring this significant loss, bringing expertise, shared experiences and a unique perspective on this special relationship.

If you are looking for support, you might like to reach out to Motherless Daughters Australia and check out their resources, information and support. They also offer an online Facebook support group to engage with others.

So, as we head towards Mother's Day this year, celebrate and remember those Mums who are with us. For those who may be struggling on this day, know that resources and communities are available to help you through this occasion.

Thank you Gillian. Mothers' Day is always bitter-sweet for me for this reason.
