Since 2012, women from all over Australia have been jumping for charity!
is an annual charity event and this year it's held on November 11th and 12th. There will be mums, their friends and families all jumping out of planes to help raise funds for
Centre for Perinatal Excellence, a non-profit organisation set up to help improve the emotional well-being of parents, before, during and after the birth of their baby.
The jump will be the
Kick-off for
Perinatal Depression & Anxiety Week. Allison Weiss is the founder of Mother Jumpers and says she had that
"Light Bulb Moment" where she was wanting to find something to mix up her life a little from the everyday routine of housework, school run, cooking dinner .... - you know the usual routine rut we all get into - so she decided to jump out of a plane! and why not and get friends to join her to do it for charity. Since then, she has raised approximately $60, 000 for mums in need!
Keen to have a go and join in? You can, there are "Drop Zones" in every state (except NT) and Alli would love to have you join in or if not so keen to jump and you are in Tasmania, you might want to try abseiling. If that still isn't for you, then why not support one of these brave Jumpers by donating to their jump.
Some of the great reasons Alli says mothers like to join in and give it a go are:Because they want to shake up their day to day life:It's on the bucket list:To signify a new beginning:To help those who might be struggling pre/post pregnancy
