The Multicultural Development Australia (MDA) organisation is an independent body committed to delivering a welcoming environment for all people from diverse backgrounds and cultures when settling in Australia and to achieve the best outcomes for everyone. MDA works with refugees, international students, migrants, people seeking asylum and local communities In Queensland, MDA works in partnership with other government agencies, service providers and the private sector to achieve their goals.

Partnering with Brisbane City Council , Suncorp and the Queensland Government, MDA is hosting The MOSAIC Multicultural Festival on Sunday 13th October 2019 from 10.00 am to 5.00pm.



This festival will bring multiculturalism together through dance, music, spoken word, family activities, visual arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations and delicious food. No matter if our birth is from a different country or we were born in Queensland, this festival celebrates the rich culture we all bring to our home State.

The MOSAIC Program for 2019 is as follows:

  • "It Who We Are!", is an exhibition of photography, visual art and the spoken word and is sponsored by Multicultural Affairs, Queensland
  • "Lullabies and Stores – Memories of Bliss", showcases the diverse voices and curated by Charulatha Mani, who is a renowned international Indian Singer and Director of the Research Centre
  • "Tibetan Mandala" – a beautiful Tibetan Mandala, created by the Tibetan Community of Queensland will be at the heart of the Info-Dome. You may like to contribute your valuable little piece t the MOSAIC Mandala!
  • "Info-Dome", is a Café Emporium where festival attendees are invited to exchange ideas and information



  • "The Soap Box Stage", this is where Brisbane meets London with Hyde Park's Speaker's Corner revisited. Take the time out to enjoy the creative solo speakers and musicians from all four corners; or perhaps you would like to get up on your own soap box
  • "Rock around the Wok!", notable cooks with intriguing stories, will be demonstrating their cooking skills
  • "Coffee College", looking for a coffee? Why not sample a coffee from the young aspiring baristas
  • "The Lake Stage" will be hosting the best in World Music, while "The Celebration Stage" will be a place of community dance
  • "Global Bazaar", stalls by artists and cultures around the Globe will have plenty of unique handicrafts for your purchase.

    The MOSAIC Multicultural Festival will be held in the Roma Street Parkland, which is situated at 1 Parkland Boulevard Brisbane City. Entry is by donation and tickets can be sourced here .



    Roma Street Parkland in Brisbane City covers approximately sixteen hectares of stunning designer-styled gardens and sprawling lawns. It is a popular spot for family picnics, bar-be-que's and has a year-round calendar of events. The Parkland is open seven days a week and dogs are permitted; but, must always remain on a lead.

    With all this in mind, 2019's MOSAIC Festival will be a great place for families and friends to meet, enjoy the activities and learn something new about the diverse cultures that now call Queensland their home.
