Tickets are on sale now and the hardest part about booking them will be deciding which events to attend, from dinner and show options including A Night with Frank Bennett 'May I Be Frank' at The Rocks, Mornington, to a Santana Tribute at the Grand Hotel Mornington. Options are as diverse in nature as they are in price and there are plenty of free performances and activities, so nobody need miss out.
All told, there'll be over 50 free and ticketed events at various venues throughout Mornington on the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend starting Friday 10th June through to (and including) Sunday 12th June 2016.
A family friendly affair, kids will love stumbling upon the 'Pop Up Kids Zones', while lovers of live performances can enjoy Music After Dark at the Mornington Bowls Club or Jazz at the Station at the Historical Mornington Railway Station. In conjunction with the , visitors to Mornington can also enjoy the Country & Western Exhibition at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery and the Queen's Birthday Race Meet at the Mornington Racecourse.
Some well-known performers are en-route to Mornington for an event that just keeps getting bigger and better. This year see Vika Bull & Andrew De Silva in their Lets Get It On, The Life & Music of Marvin Gaye show at the Grand Hotel, or James "Mr Jazz" Vincent at the Leaf and Bean. Holy Jazz! Will be playing at God's Kitchen, or attend the Gatsby Swing dinner and show at The Royal Hotel.
The Music After Dark event being hosted by the Mornington Bowls Club on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th June features a great line-up of performances and tickets only $10! This event starts at 7pm and runs till late. The Mornington Bowls Club is located at 787 Esplanade, Mornington.
The Back to Back Blues & Swing party at Beaches Mornington will have your toes tapping on Sunday 12th June. Again, tickets only $10 and you can stay all afternoon to see Rob Papp and Blues Head, The Jackson Four and The Dirty Boogie Band Sista Sista. Beaches of Mornington is located at 55 Barkly Street, Mornington.
Jazz & Shiraz will give you something to smile about at Brass Razu, with different shows on Friday & Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Brass Razu is located at 13 Main Street, Mornington.
God's Kitchen has arranged an extensive line up including Stuart Wyatt to The Ivy Stone Assembly, New Orleans Connection and Destination Moon, just to name a few. God's Kitchen is located at 53 Barkly Street, Mornington.
If you like to combine your pleasures, why not pack a picnic and check out the Jazz Festival at the Mornington Racecourse on Monday 13th June. Enjoy a Day on the Green at the Queen's Birthday Race Day Family Picnic. There will be plenty of family friendly events throughout the day. Tickets are priced at $12 for Adults, $8 Concession and Children under 15 admitted free. The Mornington Racing Club is located at 320 Racecourse Road, Mornington.
Another family friendly combined event is Live Music on the Train courtesy of the Historical Mornington Railway. Steam and diesel heritage broad gauge locomotives and passenger cars will be running between Moorooduc and Mornington on Sunday 12th June. The Main Street Groove will be jiving every day from 11am and includes heaps of live – free - entertainment the whole family will enjoy. This is in addition to the 19 venues hosting live events. While you find yourself in Mornington, why not learn more about its interesting history. Take a guided tour around the Main Street, including the old courthouse and adjoining lock-up and see the Old Post Office and Office Museum and learn more about the former fishing village once known as Schnapper Point. Guided tours are being conducted on Sunday 12th June and Monday 13th June at a cost of $5 which incudes a booklet and takes approximately 1 hour.
