Fun, food, wine and entertainment

The Melbourne Marathon has been run and won and this Sunday will see cyclists challenging themselves in Around the Bay in a Day 2014.The Mornington Main St festival will be in full swing and the atmosphere will be buzzing. So why not head to the Peninsula, sample some of the best local food and wine and kick back and listen to cool tunes under a sunny sky.

Last years event attracted a massive 40,000 people to Main st and going off previous events it just keeps getting bigger and better every year.

As a local though I would suggest getting there early to soak up the atmosphere and taste test some of the goodies on offer before the crowds make it more difficult to access the stalls (especially so if you are taking a pram) and alcohol starts to effect others.

If like me, you will be taking children then there is plenty to keep them occupied with Totally Wilde Magic, Soul Circus, Loco-Motion performing arts, Green Hat Workshops, Little Munchkins Dance Crew, roving entertainers along with the newly built/renovated Mornington Park which is located beach side of Main Street and will help expel some energy.

As for stall holders there will be 41 food stalls in total with the likes of Spanish Bites, Nepal Dining Room, Mushiki Dumplings, Lancan Tucker, Danish Bakehouse, Nica Tacos and Vietnam Food House to name but a few.

You will find 11 wine stalls which included Moorooduc Estate, T'Gallant, Rebello Wines and Stumpy Gully Vineyard.

Keep entertained with local bands and musicians playing on one of the stages along Main St.
Michael Paynter will perform on the main stage from . Michael became well known from competing on 'The Voice' in 2013 and has supported acts such as Seal, Miley Cyrus, The Script, John Farnham and Shannon Noll. He is sure to be popular among the younger crowd.

On the Grand Hotel stage will be The Distance, a country band who in the past were one of the opening acts of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Others performing are Trudy and the Saturday Cowboys, Gossomar Pride, Joel Reed and Them Blue Cats, Dawkins, Bethany King, Young Vincent, Momentum, Sarah Rzek Band and Feelix Player.

20 other mixed stall holders including corporate stalls will make up the remainder of the festival but don't forget all the great boutique shops and dining options along Main Street that will also keep you amused.

Other things to do in Mornington include the Mornington Historic Railway which will have the steam train running from Moorooduc to Mornington and will be holding a special Halloween train on the same day as the festival. There's also the spectacular beaches, my favourite is Mills and Mothers Beach in Mornington.

The festival will be held in Main Street, Mornington this Sunday (19th October) between 11am-5pm.

Have a great time at the festival and I might see you there.
