Morisset Hospital is set in the lush grounds of Morisset Park bordered by the shores of Lake Macquarie. It's about a 10 minute drive along Fishery Point Rd, just past Bonnells Bay Public School.

Morisset Hospital is a public hospital catering for adults suffering from a number of psychiatric conditions.

As a part of the Hunter New England Health Services, the hospital grounds do not have public facilities such as toilets or food outlets. There are some great takeaway stores in the town of Morisset, including the obligatory McDonald's and KFC restaurants.

There are some great picnic spots along the waters edge with great views across the beautiful Lake Macquarie. The area also has some great fishing spots along the lake side.

One of the best things to do requires some pre planning. Take some bread or biscuits with you and your kids will love hand feeding the many kangaroos that will just come right up to the car door looking for something to eat.

The kangaroos might be friendly, but remember they are still wild animals and must be treated with care.

As it is a working psychiatric hospital it might be advisable call in at the Administration Office upon entering the grounds. There are a number of wards on the hospital grounds and some of them allow the hospital patients to walk around the grounds. It is important to remember that it is a psychiatric hospital.

It is lovely to see so many kangaroo living in there natural environment. It is very irresponsible to even suggest bringing bread and biscuits, as this can make them sick.

Bread or biscuits can kill kangaroos. Please, don't do it!

Please do not feed the kangaroos! And keep your distance, they are wild animals and are capable of serious harm, especially the large males.
