Put yourself in the hands of the chefs on Monday nights and go on a culinary mystery trip. The Commonwealth Hotel at Cooks Hill is a local institution and they have decided to mix it up on Mondays with a quintessential dining experience.



You order the "Moreish Mystery Meal", pay $29 and settle back with a bread roll and a drink whilst awaiting your first course. Ours was Atlantic salmon ceviche with cream cheese, avocado and black tahini. The dish was a delicious combination of flavours and textures and set the tone for our evening.



Enticing aromas were coming out of the kitchen and we took a peek at the table next to us to get a hint of what was coming. We could tell it was some sort of curry and as the waitress put our plates down she explained it was a green curry with crispy chicken, cornbread crumbed prawns and crispy leeks. This main course was tasty and a welcome winter warmer.



The dessert of raspberry tart with chocolate mousse sauce and vanilla bean ice cream was pretty as a picture and a great palate cleanser. Three courses and a bread roll for $29 is great value but you can order from the normal menu if you are not prepared for surprises.

The menu changes each week and they post pictures of the meals on their Facebook page. Previous dinners have included soups, soups vide lamb rump, sticky pork belly, chocolate beetroot cake and chocolate caramel brownies.
