Mordi Pizza and Pasta is a great restaurant. For Italian-Australian fare it represents a great port of call if traveling along the Nepean Hwy, or indeed, if you're anywhere in the South-East suburbs. Within Mordi's menu are the usual suspects when it comes to pizza toppings: marinara, vegetarian, and beef. Beyond these familar flavours though is where Mordi really shines. First there is the Aussie: cheese, ham, egg and bacon. Then, there is the Roma Special: cheese, ham, hot salami, prawns, olives and garlic. And of course, the Mordi special cannot be overlooked: cheese, ham, mushrooms, anchovies and capsicum.

There is also the gourmet menu. For those after a pizza one-up on the usual weekend fare this menu holds a good range of options.

The pizza itself is great. Ingredients taste fresh, full, and avoid the feared 'too-oily/salty' taste that some other places can give off. The pasta menu also should be mentioned. For those who come keen on Italian food but not desiring a pizza, there are a range of options to pick from: spaghetti Napoli, fettucini mushroom, Spaghetti Bolognese, fettucini carbonara and spaghetti vegetarian [though it should be noted all pastas are only available to order until 9.00pm].

In closing, Mordi's pizza is what's great about living in the diverse suburbs of Melbourne. It is a place where you can get an authentic Italian pizza. And, just like buying a slice in Venice, Rome or elsewhere 'in the old country', it can be had with little fuss or fanfare by just driving down to a great little restaurant.
