Buy ethical

I don't know about you, but my first consideration when shopping is usually about economics. Can I afford it? However, when I start thinking about where an item came from - did that $15 skirt from Bangladesh get made it a sweat shop? - I start to wonder how much extra I would pay to make sure the person who produced the skirt was getting paid a proper wage.

The next question is, how do you know that money is actually going to the right place? And the list goes on from there.

Organisations such as Fairtrade have covered all these questions for you. Buying something marked as Fairtrade means being satisfied that the goods you're buying aren't going towards keeping sweat shops running.

"Fairtrade is about stable prices, decent working conditions and the empowerment of farmers and workers around the world." -

So, how do you buy Fairtrade? Well, more and more products are being marked with the familiar Fairtrade logo and you can look out for those when you're in a supermarket or local shop but the Victorian Fair Trade market is making it easy for you.
