I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

MOPOKE Arts & Culture Festival promises to be a free event that celebrates the diverse and vibrant art scene of Sydney and will run from 6pm on 4 February for 24 hours in the
Macquarie Street East Precinct. This exciting and unique event plans to demonstrate and celebrate the vibrant and diverse contemporary art scene of Sydney for 24 hours. Macquarie Street will become a pedestrian thoroughfare from Prince Albert Road to Shakespeare Place and the iconic heritage buildings of the precinct including Sydney Eye Hospital, The Mint and Hyde Park Barracks will stay open.

The arts have been celebrated this way in various cities (including Paris, Toronto, Tokyo and Rome) in "
Nuit Blanche" Festivals since the late 1980s. Instead of a
White Night, Sydney will come alive under the curious eyes of the Australian Boobook aka the Mopoke.

Expect to be entertained by street artists, live music, a 24 hr cinema and a silent disco as you follow the black light footprint pathway. Enter the black light tunnel to a world of imagination where you can join workshops at artists' pop-up studios, take a dance class or relax and absorb the atmosphere. There will be gourmet bush food, a variety of food trucks, bars and plenty of shopping opportunities.
The question is, will 24 hours be long enough?
