Event:
A true multi-cultural festival in Brisbane's little Africa
Moorooka, one of Brisbane's great multicultural suburbs is set to celebrate on Saturday May 23 from 11 am until the evening. This will be a day of music, art, crafts, food, workshops, children's activities and much more.



Moorooka styles itself as Brisbane's African Village with a large number of African restaurants, grocery stores and shops. Moorooka though is a multi-cultural suburb with shops and restaurants from other countries, especially the middle east.

The Moorooka festival is a muli-cultural festival with of course a heavy emphasis on African and Middle Eastern culture, but that is only the start as there will be many varied performances and activities.



Some highlights include

A'Diva Belly Dance collective will be performing.

Born in Pakistan and based in London, Babar Luck will performing songs that transcend musical genres and cultures.

There will be a live graffiti demonstration at midday at in the festival's youth area.

Free drum and percussion workshops at midday and 3 pm in the youth area.

Play pinball at the festival and if you are a true pinball wizard enter the high score competition starting at 4:30 pm.

Dance Pointe will be performing to demonstrate their skills learnt in their classes.

Listen to hip hop from EMR.

Brisbane born Adam Ryan is a singer/songwriter and will be performing on the main stage.

Black Indie from far north Queensland will be there with his guitar performing songs from his EP.

For kids there will be the great Larrikin Puppets, as well as other kids activities.

There will also be walking tours of Moorooka where you will have the opportunity to be introduced to the various business owners in the suburb and learn something about their culture and background.



There will also be numerous buskers and street performers.
