Approximately two hours drive north of Melbourne, you'll find a herd of unique and colourful life-size cows scattered in and around the regional city of Shepparton. More than 90
Moooving Art fibreglass bovines adorn various parks, gardens, playgrounds, public spaces and businesses. Not only do they honour the region's dairy industry, the cows also bring a whimsical personality to the city. They have been painted by a range of established and emerging artists including Ken Done, Pamela Irving, TANK, Helen Geier, Ivan Durrant and Judy Holding.
This iconic public art exhibition is forever on the 'mooove'. When we were there, a large group of cows could be seen at Monash Park on the corner of Fryers and High Streets. The
autumn leaves,
clownfish,
moomaid and
wanted dead or alive are among those worth a mention. Photos are most welcome (and free), however, for your own safety, it's best not to climb or sit on them.
Due to events and repairs, the locations of the cows are ever-changing. A regularly updated list is available on the
Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre website to assist you with the search. You can also follow the
Moooving Art Facebook page for the latest herd movements and additions. Be sure to discover them all next time you're in Shepparton.
