Moonlight Cinema 2015/16

The temperature is rising and long balmy hot nights are upon us. If a great night for you is chilling with a beer while watching the latest blockbuster or and old favourite movie, then you will be excited to know that Australia's best outdoor screen - Moonlight Cinema has announced its Summer lineup.

The program launch was held at Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens at the Poolside Cafe located at the Andrew 'Boy' Charlton Pool . The perfect venue with an outdoor terrace overlooking the pool.

A stunning day epitomising Summer welcomed us. Views over the crystal clear Pool and Sydney Harbour created a stunning backdrop for this special event.

On arrival, we were greeted with a choice of sparkling waters, fresh Nudie juices and Champagne cocktails.

Not long after, samples of food were brought out that can be purchased at the Moonlight Cinema events.

It was only 11 am, but the smell and sight of the food were too much to resist. I already had the munchies, so I grabbed a tasty chicken slider to start with. Group Culinary Director Adam Petta has developed an exciting new menu for the 2015 Season. There will be something tempting for all palates.

The next round of samples were Baby Calamari Fritti with wasabi aioli, beautifully presented in individual chip baskets.

If you are more a beef fan, then you can buy a Cheese Burger Slider.

The beauty of a night out at the Moonlight Cinema is you can bring your own picnic spread and drinks. If you don't wish to bring your own food/drinks, you can purchase food from the Moonlight Cinema LA style Food Truck and drinks from the fully licensed bar .

The Moonlight Cinema offers a scrumptious menu of movie munchies including pulled pork sliders, New York chilli cheese dogs, buffalo fried chicken, parmesan truffle fries and what was my sweet favourite, Nutella Donuts. I scoffed down four of these little babies.

The sun was streaming the deck, not a cloud in sight. It was easy to imagine sitting in the gardens feasting on these treats before settling in to view a film.

Soon all were gathered to hear the welcome speeches. Ian Sutherland, the Director of Marketing for Amalgamated Holdings Limited said, "With hotly anticipated previews and some of the biggest summer blockbusters, the Moonlight experience this year is going to be spectacular. We've lined up all the trimmings to make each Moonlight experience extra special."

Sessions of Moonlight Cinema will be held on huge 20-metre screens across Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide from 3 December, Perth from 5 December and Brisbane from 16 December. There are even Dog-Friendly viewing nights.

The new season program announced advanced screenings of over 15 of the hottest new releases. Patrons can enjoy the privilege of these screenings before they hit the cinemas. We started our sneek at all the fabulous previews.

Moonlight Cinema is about bringing you the ultimate cinema experience outdoors. You don't need to wrestle to find a soft spot on the grass, if a picnic rug doesn't hack it, there will be comfy bean beds available. If you want the premium experience, then you might like to choose the Gold Grass section.

We were told that for star-struck fans there would also be some star-studded VIP red carpet advance screenings of Suffragette , starring actors, Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter to officially open the season.

Jennifer Lawrence fans would not be left out with two screenings of the final instalment of The Hunger Games; Mockingjay Part 2

Advanced screening of her latest Oscar contender, Joy where she reunites with actors Rober De Niro and Bradley Cooper.

You can be one of the first to see the western thriller The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio.

There are so many great movies, for laughs you will loveThe Sisters with actors Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Dirty Grandpa with Zac Efron and Robert De Niro. If you are an animation fan you can enjoy the epic adventure The Good Dinosaur. Goosebumps with Jack Black and favourite Snoopy are just a couple of the best animations.

For an Australia Day tribute, there will be the 1950s drama The Dressmaker with Kate Winslet. Action devotees can feel their pulses racing with the latest Bond blockbuster Spectre and Star Wars: Episode V11 - The Force Awakens.

A great family Christmas flick is Love the Coopers with Diane Keaton and John Goodman.

Cult classic lovers won't be left out, with the favourites lineup including Dirty Dancing, Top Gun, Grease Sing-a-long and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Four puppy friendly screenings will include Snoopy and Charlie Brown, The Peanuts Movie, Sisters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Spectre.
