Your summer season isn't complete without a visit to a moonlight outdoor cinema experience. If sitting under the stars in comfort, enjoying a summer evening breeze, kicking back with a drink while munching on some awesome food sounds good, then you would totally enjoy the Moonlight Cinema experience.

The full Moonlight Cinema 2016/2017 program in Australia commenced on Thursday 1 December in Sydney at the Belvedere amphitheatre in Centennial Park. Adelaide on 1 December, Perth on 3 December, Melbourne and Brisbane 8 December. Showing advance movie screenings, new releases and blockbuster classics.

I was invited to attend the launch of the Sydney summer program on Wednesday 8 December at Belvedere Amphitheatre, Centennial Park. I hadn't been to this location before and was excited to check it out. Driving into Centennial gardens was easy enough. Cars can enter and exit the Park via Woollahra and Paddington Gates. Limited free parking is available. Please follow directional signs. No charge or time limit for parking during the weeknights for the outdoor cinema.

Gates opened at 7.15pm with the movie session commencing at 8.30pm. We were fortunate to be VIP guests courtesy of Moonlight Cinema so gained first entry and my friend went straight to the drinks table.

Soon enough more people arrived, keen to secure best viewing spots.

We headed to the VIP section. There were rows of movie bean beds to choose from all set with VIP snack boxes.

A delicious pizza each and a snack box of olives, cheese, mixed cured meat slices, crusty bread roll and a mini Christmas cake. Totally yum, as I was starving coming straight from work.

If you don't have time to make your own picnic dinner, you will love the food and candy truck. Scrumptious food aromas filled the air. Hot and cold food was on offer. If seated in the Gold Grass section, staff were also available to take orders.

The menu offers delicious pulled pork and southern fried chicken sliders, hotdogs, fries, waffles and churros.

We were spoilt with complimentary VIP Champagne, food and water bottles so we didn't need to bring a thing. I could see that some patrons had brought their own refreshments - BYO alcohol is allowed. This was a great option as some outdoor cinemas don't allow this. If you forget to bring your own drinks, no need to go thirsty, just head to the fully licensed bar. If you want to know more about the things allowed and not allowed check out the FAQ on the website.

You can bring your own picnic blankets or low chair and just pay entry of $19.00 to see the movie. Though you may well be green with envy looking at the bean beds. The Connoisseur Lounge area $30.00 includes premium seating area and bean bed. You can book the Gold Grass area - the ticket price of $35.00 includes entry, movie and a reserved bean bed in a prime area with waiter service. They recommend that you book ahead to secure a Gold Grass spot.

No need to leave your precious pooch at home; you can bring them along for a cuddle. Rules are to keep them on a short lead, clean up after them of course and no aggressive dogs allowed.

We checked out the scene and all around us people were enjoying drinks and picnic food. This certainly was my type of movie experience. A chance to relax in the fresh air, have a couple of drinks after a hard day at work before settling in for an outdoor movie.

We were lucky to be seeing the new release "Office Christmas Party". Just as it was about to start, the VIP gold grass section was also spoilt with Connoisseur ice creams - the perfect choice after filling our stomachs with salami and pizza.

As dark was falling, the air temperature was cooling. I have to admit the movie beds were very snug and warm. Quite a few people around us had brought their own blankets and looked super cosy - mental note to bring my blanket next time. The movie started and we sunk into our bean beds in total bliss.

This was definitely the best way to see a movie in Summer and have a fun night with friends. I couldn't wait to book another session soon.
