Catch a movie and the sunset at the same time
It's the first day of summer, and it can only mean one thing - Australia's favourite outdoor cinema, Moonlight Cinema, is back again for another season of blockbuster movies, family favourites and some new releases. Held on the glorious gardens of Botanic Park between the Zoo and the Botanic Gardens, the Moonlight Cinema is on every Tuesday to Sunday commencing at sundown from 1st December to the 19th February.
The 2016/17 season features many great movies including Sully, Office Christmas Party, Moana, Inferno, Bad Santa 2, The Edge of Seventeen, The Girl on the Train, The Accountant, Red Dog - True Blue and many more. For a complete list of the movies on show this season, click here.
But the Moonlight Cinema is not just about the movies, it is about the environment which facilitates a picnic atmosphere. So why not make a night of it, and either bring your own favourite foods and drinks, or perhaps enjoy some great food and drink on offer from some of the local vendors.
For those looking to lounge around, make sure you bring your picnic rug, cushions, blankets or low beach chairs. Alternatively a limited number of Bean Beds are available for hire for $9 or you can upgrade your experience by purchasing a Gold Grass or Connoisseur Lounge ticket.
Being an outdoor cinema, the weather plays a significant part in the event and in most cases does not impact the experience. However there are the occasional times when the weather turns very inclement and alternative arrangements are required. To keep up to date on any changes as a result of the weather, make sure you check the Moonlight Cinema's facebook page.
