The Moonee Valley Festival is doing it differently. It's here, but not as you know it! If you've already been to the Food Fair Festival in February and the Woodlands by Twilight event on 2 March, you know what we're talking about. It's staggered with a series of local events right in your backyard and runs from February to March.

Never fear that you've missed out, because the Family Fun Day Sunday is on Sunday 17 March 2019, St Patrick's Day, from 12noon to 4pm at Walter Reserve in Ascot Vale. You have one more with Illuminate the River on Saturday 30 March from 2-9pm at The Blvd, Maribyrnong River.

The upcoming Family Fun Day on 17 March from 12noon to 4pm at Walter Reserve, Ascot Vale is a FREE afternoon jam-packed with fitness fun, arts and crafts and delicious food. Come along and try a variety of easy and accessible ways to get active. Local recreation and sporting clubs, groups and organisations will be onsite as well as a circus trapeze and a fun obstacle course.

Other activities include games, art space for kids interactive craft workshops, tie-dying workshops, toy library, rock climbing wall, face painting, yoga demos and more. For timeframes of other demos and workshops, check here, so you don't miss out on Zumba, an Acrobatics Display, Bluefire Bellydancers, Professional Taekwondo, and Melbourne Classical Martial Arts. There's also face painting for the kids and the Moonee Valley Libraries fun activities like badge making and a reading corner with bean bags.

The Festival comes to a close in spectacular style with Illuminate the River; a grand cultural celebration by the Maribyrnong River (The Blvd, Maribyrnong River, Aberfeldie) on Saturday 30 March 2019 from 2pm to 9pm. It's a full afternoon/evening of food, art, entertainment, live music, roving performances and pop-up activities for all ages.

Headline performances include X Factor's Isaiah Firebrace, Melbourne-based five-piece Dinner Suit Boogie, soul powerhouse Kattimoni, internationally renowned circus company Gravity & Other Myths, Trucked Up aerialist performers, and Melbourne-based all girl acoustic trio Harlow & Hart. There's lots for the kids as well with Beasties interactive show, the True Fairies storytelling, hula workshops and roving entertainers all afternoon.

Late evening has sculptural lanterns of Lantasia by illustrator/designer Tyson Savanah, laser lights and projection art as the 2019 Moonee Valley Festival closes in style! Check the website for timeframes and road closure notices.

Don't forget the Neighbourhood Events as well, for other entertaining events still running eg. pop-up cinema screening Moana on 16 March and Brave on 22 March; Cultural Diversity Week on 21 March; Women in Business Luncheon on 22 March; The Queens Park Swimming Pool Triathlon on 17 March; and The World of Coffee Workshop on 24 March. Check them all out so as not to miss out.
