Directed by Ali Samadi Ahadi, Moonbound is based on one of Germany's most popular children's books and will be out in cinemas 24 June 2021. Little Pete has this annoying little sister called Anne, who tells him fantastical tales he does not believe a word of. However, when Anne is kidnapped by the evil Moon Man while she was trying to help Mr Zoomzeman the beetle search for his wife, what else could Peter do except to follow and rescue her

On his fantastic adventure, Peter lands on the Star Meadow where he meets the sleepy Mr Sandman. He knows they can only find out about Anne's whereabouts at the Night Fairy's dinner in the castle in the clouds. There aren't enough seats for everyone, so they join the wild race along the Milky Way against the five spirits of Nature: Storm Giant, Lightning Witch, Henry Hail, Rainy Robin and Mother Frost.

This family-friendly film has a great imagination and is told with enough appeal that makes it enjoyable for adults and children alike. An out of this world sci-fi animated adventure, it throws the book at you by filling it with life lessons, and what it means to be family, no matter what. It has strong female characters and points out that you don't have to be huge in stature to show your strength or be a hero. It's also quite multicultural and colourful in that it has characters from a diverse range of backgrounds and ethnicities.

Peter may be the hero of the story, but his little sister Anne also holds her own as a strong and willful character. Their endearing relationship as siblings, their stoic stance to not leave any man behind, sprinkled with stars in training and many other fantastical elements, make it appealing for all to enjoy as it combines action and emotion-driven fantasy. This is the one film adults won't mind sitting through with their kids at all.
