Mooloolaba's traditional Christmas Boat Parade will take place on Mooloolaba River on Saturday December 15. The parade itself will begin at 6.30pm and run to 8.30pm. There will also be afternoon activities with Sunshine Coast Dragon Boats at Helen Penny Gardens from 12.30pm to 4.30pm, while the The Twilight Community Markets Mooloolaba will be underway at the same time at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

Up to 10,000 people will line the Mooloolaba waterways to see the spectacular decorated boats in this parade. You can find a map of the route on the event's Facebook page. The best places to get a look are Outriggers Park, Charles Clarke Park, The Wharf Mooloolaba, Helen Penny Gardens and La Balsa Park.

If you've got your own boat, you can take part in the parade, decking it out with lights and colour for a chance to win the Best Dressed Boat prize. If you live along the waterways, you can also compete for the Best Dressed House prize (check out the Facebook map for eligible houses). Entry costs $25.00 and you can find the forms here. All money raised will be donated to local charities.

A Colouring Competition is also being run for the kids. The image can be downloaded here. Entries close Wednesday December 12.
