One of the most exciting Christmas events of the year, Mooloolaba Yacht Club's Christmas Boat Parade

One of the most exciting and most anticipated Christmas events of the year has to be the absolutely fabulous and festive Mooloolaba Yacht Club's Christmas Boat Parade.

Organised by the Mooloolaba Yacht Club, the Christmas Boat Parade is a Christmas lights display with a twinkling difference. Boats of every shape and size, jet skis and homes along the waterways, are all 'decked' out in their Christmas finery to participate in the Parade.

Decked out in Christmas finery

The Mooloolaba Yacht Club's Christmas Boat Parade is a FREE spectator event. Entry fees for the Christmas Boat Parade and house competition are donated to a nominated local charity, so everybody and anybody is encouraged to join in, by entering a boat - private or commercial - or their waterfront home or building. For those who prefer to participate from the side-lines (or in this case, water-lines), invite your family and friends to join you and grab a great vantage spot along the canals.

The official Mooloolaba Yacht Club's Christmas Boat Parade Course Map is still to be provided. I have it on good authority though that the Parade will commence from The Wharf, an awesome viewing spot. Boats will then head to Elanora Avenue; Main Canal; Kawana Waters Hotel and on to La Balsa Park, before heading back to The Wharf for the finish. In previous years the best and most popular viewing locations were at:

La Balsa Park, Buddina or alternatively
Book a table for dinner at either See Restaurant or Dock at the Wharf - both providing delightful front-row seats

Pretty as a picture ...

Safety Information for Water Craft participants -

Safety Tip 1 - As there will be a number of small craft participating in the Parade, please be aware of all craft in your immediate surrounds.
Safety Tip 2 - There is a tight corner at Kawana (at the end of the main canal) and caution needs to be observed with incoming and outgoing vessels. Craft speed may need to be varied to ensure safe passing.
For enquiries or questions on the night of the event, please contact the MYC office on 0413 227 013 or via Channel VHF 77.

Looks like a good event. Wish we had something like that here in Sydney.

This looks wonderful Elaine. It would be fabulous at night. I love your sub-title - 'Deck the hulls with boughs of holly' - very clever.
