There's no better place for a triathlon than
Mooloolaba . With that world famous beach as the backdrop, the heart of the Sunshine Coast really does open its arms to this annual extravaganza. The 2013 event is also the 21st anniversary - an absolute testament to just how popular this has become.
The
triathlon itself will be run on Sunday March 17, beginning at 6.30am. The 1500m swim will take place off Mooloolaba Beach, the cycle will last 40km and the 10km run will take in a two lap course along the Mooloolaba Esplanade. You couldn't ask for a better setting.
The weekend isn't all about the race though. If you want to take your mind off things consider checking out the returning
Mooloolaba Sports and Lifestyle Expo . It's a great place to get up to speed with the latest products on the market to help make you a better athlete.
If the triathlon is too much for you there are plenty of other events to keep you active. The
Mooloolaba Ocean Swim is a 1000m ocean swim off Mooloolaba Beach and the
ASICS Mooloolaba Twilight Run is a 5km looped run along Mooloolaba Esplanade.
The
Mooloolaba Superkidz Triathlon is for kids aged 7 to 13 years old. All participants receive a medallion just for entering. There are two different courses on offer, both a lot shorter than the actual triathlon. There's also the
Mooloolaba Special Triathlon , it's the one of two only triathlons specifically held for people with special needs. It emphasises the weekend's focus on fun and enjoyment and just goes to prove that anyone can do this. If there's any race you're keen on, you can enter it
here .
It's not just the local economy benefiting from the triathlon and the crowd it draws in either - organisers USM Events have announced three charities have been selected to be involved in the Mooloolaba Triathlon Charity Partnership.
Neighbours Aid ,
McGrath Foundation and
Make-A-Wish Australia will all be holders of a limited number of 2013 entries, available for enthusiastic fundraisers. Those who accept a charity entry will be obligated to raise a minimum amount of funds for charity. If this is for you, check in
here .
The Mooloolaba Triathlon has lasted this long for a reason. It's a fantastic event, whether you're a participant or a spectator. Get sucks up in this positive environment in the heart of the Sunshine Coast.
