Mooloolaba New Year’s Eve Celebrations - FREE Community Event

Family friendly festivities and fireworks

Celebrate the close of 2024 with a bang in Mooloolaba, when the esplanade will ignite with family-friendly festivities, in the lead-up to the much-anticipated fireworks display at 8.30pm on New Year’s Eve.



Locals and holidaymakers will be in for a treat with the roaming entertainment; the kids and adults will absolutely love the face painting; and food trucks will be serving up delectable food for those with the munchies.

If crowds are not your thing and you’d prefer to remain slightly incognito but still enjoy the fireworks, you’re in luck! The fireworks spectacular is promising to be bigger and better than ever before, meaning that spectators will be able to see them from Cotton Tree in the north to La Balsa in the south.

Please Note: Council will NOT be hosting midnight fireworks at any Sunshine Coast location this year.



SAFETY FIRST:

For Mooloolaba, the New Year’s Eve community’s safety is a priority. To ensure that everyone has a fun and uneventful evening, this is strictly a glass, alcohol and drug-free event. Queensland Police will be on hand to make this a welcoming environment for families and security will be in place to manage access.

Getting to the Mooloolaba New Year’s Eve Celebrations should be a breeze, with a range of active and public transport options.



GETTING THERE:

Bikes and scooters - for those wanting to beat the crowds and cycle or scoot to the event, the Council’s ThinkChange program is offering a free BikePark service. You’ll find these on River Esplanade in the south and opposite the Steve Irwin statue on Mooloolaba Esplanade in the north. Simply ride or scoot in and leave your ride in the safety of the BikePark which will be fully staffed until the end of the event. Make sure you remember your helmets and lights for the return journey.
 
Public transport - Plan your journey using the Translink Journey Planner.



Park and ride - Jump on a FREE Park and Ride shuttle at Chancellor State Secondary College in Sippy Downs. Park at the Claymore Road carpark (CP15) and jump off at Alexandra Headland. Shuttles will run continuously from 5.00pm to 11.00pm. Further information will be posted to the Facebook event page in December.
 
Uber and Taxi services - A dedicated Uber drop-off point will be located at Alexandra Headland and the taxi rank at Mooloolaba Esplanade will operate as usual.
 
Ferry - The new Mooloolaba Ferry Service will be operating between Kawana Waters and Mooloolaba. Visit  mooloolabaferry.com.au  for the timetable.


 
DINING
You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to filling hungry tummies. Grab a tasty treat from one of the food trucks or pack a picnic and kick back with fine homemade fare.

WATER STATIONS
Water stations will be available, so don’t forget to BYO water bottle.
