is the retail shopfront for Mooloolah River Fisheries. The former sells fresh seafood, such as prawns, lobsters, crabs, moreton bay bugs, squid, oysters, and a variety of fish – snapper, tuna, mahi-mahi, perch, swordfish, barramundi, parrot, and coral trout. The latter is the owner and operator of a commercial fishing and processing operation in Mooloolaba Port and is an exporter, wholesaler, processor, and retailer of fresh seafood in the Sunshine Coast as well as the rest of Australia and overseas.

Mooloolah River Fisheries had built a complex on Mooloolaba Port, including a commercial fishing vessel marina, uploading wharf facilities, ice-making plant, cold stores, tuna packing facilities, and seafood market. The marina berths can accommodate up to thirty-six vessels to thirty-five metres in length. It is a one-stop-shop for the fishing industry, able to supply fuel and power to individual berths, as well as, supply bait.

In-house dining area is on the ground floor as well as on the deck, appropriately named, The Deck on Parkyn. The Deck is an undercover area that serves fresh seafood for daytime and evening dining. It is licensed to serve alcohol and BYO is therefore not an option. Prices on beer and wine are quite reasonable; a glass of house wine is around five dollars and a bottle of mid-strength beer is around six dollars.

The ground floor shop takes orders for cooked seafood, such as fish and chips and an assortment of grilled fish. It also serves salads, fresh seafood platters, seafood rolls, and lobster and bug packs. You can then enjoy these in an outdoor setting in front of the shop or you can take it up the stairs to the deck, where you can also take delight in the view over Mooloolaba River.

The seafood market is open seven days and, depending on the time of year, can be busy. It does have a few people serving during very busy times at Christmas and Easter so the wait for service isn't that long. It is one of a couple of places in the Sunshine Coast, where I like to source seafood as I've always found it fresh and tasty. There is, almost always, a special or two on cooked seafood. Barramundi with chips, for example, is a good deal at around ten dollars.

Across the park and kids' playground from the premises is Mooloolaba Spit, the safest beach in the Sunshine Coast, where waves average half a metre and rips happen only during or following higher seas. It's just another beautiful part of the coast to enjoy your bought seafood in.
