Rows of shops line the main street of Montville
There is a magical little village called
Montville on top of The Blackall Ranges in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The mountain top streets are full of old world charm and lined with shops and cafes to suit everyone's taste. Montville is one of those amazing places where you can sit in a
cafe and gaze across to the ocean in the distance.

Shopping Heaven:
As you wander along the neatly paved and landscaped footpath, colourful trinkets and hand made creations overflow out every window. If you're looking for something to eat, there are gourmet foods sourced from local hinterland farms, organic produce, sweet treats and award winning pies on offer.

Easy Parking:
It is very convenient to park your car near the information centre and slowly wander along one side of the main street, then make your way back down again. This really could take several hours, especially if you enjoy shopping and browsing or are looking to buy something special. Be sure to admire the working Montrose Water Wheel on the western side of the street and the mosaics lining the footpaths tell of the region's farming history. We were most impressed by the axe, horse shoes, pitch fork and shovel embedded into one section of the footpath.

Art and Crafts Centre:
The beauty of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland attracts a high concentration of artists, many of whom display and sell their work in this little town. There are several galleries and shops selling local artist's sculptures, paintings, ceramics and metalwork. It is not difficult to find unique pieces for the garden or indoors. Also, there are many specialty shops - for children's educational items, antiques, jewellery, lollies, chocolates, Indian goods, books and even an Irish - Scottish Shop.

Weekend Escape:
Montville is definitely
the place to buy unique souvenirs and treasures of
every shape and size. I highly recommend it as a day trip destination from Noosa (half an hour by car) or even Brisbane (just over an hour by car). If you have more time, it would make a fun weekend escape, with many cottages available for rent in the area and some stunning
National Parks to explore nearby.
