It doesn't need to be Cinco de Mayo to enjoy a Mexican Fiesta, and At Montezuma's Mesa they're always in the mood for a celebration. This brightly coloured Mexican eatery is hard to miss, and you'll be able to join a range of Mexican meals along with the classic sangria, tequila, or margaritas. Their North Adelaide restaurant is on the popular Melbourne Street, and is good for both lunch and dinner.

Their wide menu features plenty of burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and more. If you're a fan of Fresh Mex you might find yourself a little disappointed. Montezuma's stick to more traditional Mexican versions of some of these dishes, so instead of a burrito stuffed full of rice, fresh salsas, and guacamole, you'll get a simple tortilla with meat, beans, and a bit of sour cream. If you're after a slathering of fresh mango or corn salsas then you might be best checking out Burp or Zambrero. The meals are tasty, and cooked well, it just might not be what everyone is used to.

Of course you can't have a fiesta without some drinks, and Montezuma's have that taken care of. Their popular margaritas can be bought by the glass, or by the jug, and you'll definitely be tempted to choose the latter option. There are also Mexican beers on offer, and fruity sangria. There is a non-alcoholic sangria on offer, but don't be confused into thinking it will taste like regular sangria minus the alcohol content. The taste is fruity, but it just tastes like a fruit juice blend, with some cinnamon thrown in. It is a tasty option, but not quite a comparison to the real deal.

If you sit inside at the Melbourne Street store you'll be surrounded by the bright piƱatas, sombreros, and plenty of other multi-coloured decorations. There are tables and booths to choose from. There is also outdoor seating either sheltered with cafe blinds, or completely outside. This is a great spot to sit on a warm day, and it makes a good seat for spotting the bustling Melbourne Street action while you enjoy your food.

Some Fresh Mex lovers may find Montezuma's an unworthy opponent, but if you enjoy it for what it is, not as a comparison to some of Adelaide's great burrito bars, it is a tasty lunch option. Prices aren't cheap, but the food is good, and the atmosphere is friendly. Service can be a little slow, especially when you're sitting outside, but at least it is delivered with a smile.
