From Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th October 2017, Canvas House in South Melbourne will be home to 'Montalto in Town'.
This special five-course dining event will showcase dishes from chef Gerard Phelan's exciting new menu, created especially for the reopening and relaunch of Montalto Restaurant in early November.
Guests at 'Montalto In Town' will enjoy a dinner of five courses, each matched to carefully selected Montalto wines - including the two flagship varieties, the Montalto "Estate" Chardonnay and the Montalto "Estate" Pinot Noir, noted among the region's best, most consistent and most awarded.
In the glass, true to the vineyard's ethos, Montalto wines have been chosen by Luke Gooley, Food & Beverage Manager to complement each course and for their clear and evocative expression of origin, fruit, site and vintage.
Here's a small taste of the tantalising menu - Smoked cabbage, stracciatella, tarragon, dashi with 2016 Montalto Estate Pinot Gris - an outstanding wine with lovely aromas of stewed apple and pear skin which follow through onto the palate. The finish has a touch of sweet spice and very impressive length.
Though still new, 'Montalto in Town' is already one of the winery's favourite events and this year, Montalto chose one of Melbourne's newest event spaces as its location – Canvas House in Buckhurst Street South Melbourne – a warm and welcoming warehouse space with exposed brick walls and soaring ceilings.
