Welcome to the clubhouse that everyone wants to come to.

Monk Bodhi Dharma gives you that special hug you need on a cold and miserable looking day. Combine that hug with warmth, hearty vegetarian food and coffee so smooth and velvety that even James Bond is taken aback, then you'll find yourself with a reason to leave the house on a Saturday afternoon.

Monk was opened in early 2010 by Kate and Marwin Shaw and since its opening it has been a temple of all that is right in the universe. In my opinion they are one of the best kept secrets that isn't really secret (anymore).

Double espresso. Monk Bodhi Dharma Zen Blend.
Sweet and tart cherry-like flavours dance on my taste buds like a master piano player. Flavour tones of fig with hints of caramel. Rich and smooth body with a medium level of viscosity. This is velvet on your tongue.

Balinese lemongrass and sweetcorn soup with sticky rice and chilli jam.
Just the thing to warm my cold heart. Balanced and not overly salty. This soup is to be savoured and enjoyed with your eyes closed. I'd be happy to have this food by my side if I was on death row.

This is a cosy place. Slightly bigger than Nabiha in Moonee Ponds but still small enough to look politely at someone else's food and even see what word they chose on Words With Friends.

They have an amazing music selection that varied from The Beatles to The Beuna Vista Social Club. The music choices tempted me to go beyond my one hour parking limit. The staff are super helpful and polite. Regardless of what you read on or hear about elsewhere, I have had consistently good service and have never had a bad experience. To ease your minds, because I know you're all wondering if I'll mention it, yes quite a few of the staff are on the yes side of attractive.

Just like a few of the other places I've written about, Monk Bodhi Dharma is an all rounder cafe - coffee, food, service - all perfect.
