Art is not what you see but what you make others see
Are you wanting to learn about art but aren't sure where to start? Or maybe you're an artist who just wants to meet up with like-minded people to take part in some projects or individual pieces with someone to chat to while you work?

The Monday Morning Art Journeys group at Annerley Community Hub is a space where anyone can join in, no matter your skill level, with a community arty facilitator and artist to help guide you or give you feedback on your work.
Some materials are provided and I enjoyed taking part in this program last year. Each fortnight there are a few materials provided along with a new project or idea to undertake for the day. You can bring along your own choice of art supplies as well if you like something in particular and either join in the project for the day, or work on your own idea.
Helen Kinniburgh has been an artist for many years and has a huge range and understanding of different techniques and styles. Usually you will find at least one still life 'tableau' on the table which you can use as inspiration, or draw/paint the items which are displayed.
Last year saw a range of wonderful artworks and this year, the groups is hoping that some participants may want to take part in a casual art show for 2016. I know that there were some beautiful pieces which were completed in the group last year and I would love to see some of them framed and hung on the wall.
There is usually cake and tea and coffee so you can have a free morning tea while you work. Participants occasionally also bring along their own home-made cookies, cakes and other sweet treats so if you fancy yourself a baker, bring something along for the group to share.
If you're interested in this class, I can say that it's one of the most enjoyable groups I've taken part in. There are people from all walks of life and we had so much fun. For more info you can call Annerley Community Hub 07 3255 9982.
Thanks to all who came along to our art mornings. Thanks also for this write up Kath! Just a slight correction - the statement that I had 'been an artist for many years' is not really correct - I remember saying that I had been 'studying art for many years' - certainly did do that, and wanted to share that experience with others. As I only finished my TAFE art course a few years ago, I can't say I can really make that claim.
