Towering piece of equipment in new Mandogalup playground
The Mokare Reserve Adventure Playground celebrated its long-awaited opening on Saturday 5th June 2020. The playground is located in Apsley Estate in Mandogalup, accessed off Rowley Road. The playground is just inside the entrance of the estate and there is ample parking with two carparks as well as street parking.
The 12 metre tower with a slide immediately grabs attention
The playground is spread over a large area and caters for all age groups. The most eye-catching piece of equipment is the 12-metre tower and slide that is built around a large tree. There is an obstacle course comprising of monkey bars and ropes, a basketball hoop with a half-court, balance beams made from wooden logs and a spinning disc.
The playground includes a half court basketball hoop.
For younger children, there are swings (both the standard style and a large round swing), a sandpit area, a smaller wooden climbing frame with multiple entrances, a small slide built into a rock feature, a musical station with pipes and the ever-popular water station.
The set of swings has a standard seat and a baby seat.
There is a large grass area off to one side which is perfect for kicking a footy or playing a game of cricket. Multiple paths run around and throughout the playground and would be suitable for children to ride bikes, scooters or rollerblades.
There are two barbeque areas, both with seating and benches, and a water refill station. There is a long low wall that could be used for additional seating or take a picnic rug and settle in on the grass. Large shade sails provide cover over some of the equipment and there are gazebos covering the areas with benches underneath. The only downside is no toilet facilities were available.
