"Can I have a small Prickly Pear please?" is what I ordered at the counter. Upon hearing those words, it was only a matter of milliseconds before my friend and I would realise what I just said and start giggling away like 13 year old teenage boys. Now before your mind starts getting ahead of me, we were innocently referring to pizzas, of course.

Located on 308 Bridge Rd, just on the outskirts of the CBD, offers you a wide range of tasty and weird treats. Note: this is definitely not your ordinary pizzeria. It is here that one is expected to follow the pizzeria's unofficial and unspoken mantra of: 'don't knock it til you try it'.

Looking at the actual pizzeria itself, it just looks like another ordinary trendy pizza shop in the Melbourne suburbs, but it is only when you see the menu, things start to become interesting. To just quote what is on the menu, here is a few examples of what kind of 'weird' pizza one can expect to order:

Ali Baba - Pizza that is topped with hot salami, Spanish onion, roasted pumpkin, red and green capsicum, Kalamata olives, and feta cheese lightly smothered in Napoli sauce. This is where exotic Middle East meets with the flavours of Italy, basically a kebab on a pizza base.

Big Breaky - A pizza with scramble eggs, sausages, bacon, and hash browns topped with BBQ and tomato sauce. In other words, this is your big breakfast of pizzas. For a hearty breakfast, this is the pizza you would want to order.

Parma Sutra - topped with Virginian ham, garlic and pieces of chicken schnitzel, lighted covered with Napoli sauce and cheese, this is the classic pub Parma served on a pizza base.

Kaas Kop - caramelised onions, tasty cheese, blue vein cheese and cream cheese melted on a pizza base. This is a cheese loving Frenchman's culinary dream.

As my friend and I kept ourselves busy with the amount of strange pizzas on the menu, we both spotted a pizza that we just had to try. The one they call 'Adam Street', a pizza where spaghetti bolognaise is served as the main topping. This is the kind of pizza where they just put everything Italian into one meal. I have never in my life seen a pizza of its kind, and when I took the first bite of this pizza, it was crunchy yet surprisingly delicious. Whoever thought that overbaked spaghetti would taste that nice!

For those that are just not ready to step out of their comfort zone just yet, Mojo's Pizza does also serve a menu full of the ordinary and well known pizzas that we have familiar with.

However, if you happen to have a bit of a sweet tooth, there are two dessert pizzas from the menu to choose from.
Bumpy Lane – A Pizza with sprinkles of coconut, roasted peanuts, raspberry lollies, marshmallows and chocolate buttons drizzled with chocolate sauce on a chocolate spread pizza base. This is a chocoholic's dream, a rocky road pizza!

Climax – Pizza that has been topped with vanilla custard, stewed cinnamon apples and pieces of biscuit crumble, sprinkled with king sugar. In other words, an apple crumple on a pizza base!

Yes, this establishment is not your usual pizzeria; whoever thought that this would be a feasible small business plan must've been on to something. However for a gastronomical adventure of a lifetime, it's worth the visit to enjoy a taste of Mojo's Pizza!
