In a country such as Australia, you would not think that modern slavery occurs like it does in so many other countries, but it does. Modern slavery is a term given to the severe exploitation of other people for personal or commercial gain.

Examples can include a person forced to work for free to pay off a debt, forced into a marriage, people forced to work through violence and intimidation, human trafficking and servitude. All these situations are considered modern slavery and under Australian law, are serious crimes.

On Saturday 30th July 2022, the Zonta Club of Wynnum Redland Inc is hosting "UN's World Day Trafficking in Persons" event at the Redlands Indigiscapes Centre , 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba. Tickets are $10.00 per person and can be purchased through the event's Facebook page.

Informed speakers for this event will be from Freedom Hub and the Australian Federal Police . We are all in this together and we help stop this dreadful activity that is happening to voiceless individuals behind the closed doors of many homes and businesses.
