Event:
Save the planet one nappy at a time
You might be a new first-time mum, or you might have lots of kids but are looking to get away from the disposable nappies. There is nothing with whatever you choose, as long as your baby is happy and healthy then that is fine. But if you do want to try and make your carbon footprint a little bit smaller and a lot more eco friendly, then that's great. There are lots of different places where you can get help. And the City of Cockburn has a workshop that can help you there.

Join Kam Andrews, also known as the "Nappy Guru" as she goes through the different types of cloth nappies and what might be right for you. Cloth nappies do require a little care, but they aren't as difficult as they once were. You don't need to use pins or to soak them anymore. Now, you can use the velcro fitters that allow you to fit them securely to your bub, and you can just throw them in the wash when they are dirty.

They now also come in all sorts of cute and fun prints that your babies will love to look at and so will you! On the day, Kam will have lots for you to look at. They're much cuter than the disposable ones and they will save you lots of money in the long run. You're saving cash and the planet at the same time! Win win!

If you like in the city of Cockburn, and you attend this workshop, then there is even more good news. The government is willing to offer you up to 60% subsidy on your purchases through the Nappy Guru's library service. You can also apply for a $50 rebate for any new cloth nappy purchases. You have to bring proof of residency, like a licence and a bill. Anyone looking to buy some reusable period panties, there are rebates available through the City of Cockburn too. However, this has nothing to do with this event, just a good tip.

You don't have to be a resident to attend this workshop, it would be great to attend no matter where you are from. You just have to be a resident to get the subsidies. Light refreshments are available on the day, and it is only $5 to attend, which is excellent if you are serious about making the change. The workshop starts at 10am until 12:30pm on the 28th of May at Success Library Community Rooms.
