Miniature train for all ages to enjoy
Model Engineer And Live Steamers Association Rockhampton INC (MELSA Rockhampton) is a small club located at Leichhardt Park on the corner of Campbell and Cambridge Street in Rockhampton. MESLA Rockhampton was originally founded in the early 1980s on the same site where they still meet today. On the
first Sunday of every month, providing the weather is fit for running, they will operate mini trains for the public to ride, from
9 am until 12 pm.
Currently having 10 steam engines, 4 types of diesel and 3 electric miniature trains, these trains could be seen running in the park on a permanent track that was built by MELSA Rockhampton’s club members in 1983. Each locomotive will carry 3 to 4 long seats that can be seated 3 to 4 people on one seat.
Only $3 for three laps or $10 for unlimited rides, everyone can enjoy the ride on these miniature trains. Children under 3 years old will be FREE with paying adults. Note that fully enclosed footwear must be worn to ride the trains. They also provide some shoes onsite for someone that came with no enclosed footwear, although no guarantee that they will have your size. There are some benches to sit on and a rotunda with picnic tables that use by the club to sell soft drinks and water bottles.
MELSA Rockhampton also offers a private function option. Please go to this [LINK
