is a short stroll from a beautiful stretch of sea and sand. Moana beach is people, dog and car friendly. Dogs have their own section of beach to run and be free. Cars can drive on to the beach to feel the sand between their treads.

Before you settle down for a day of wet, sandy fun, make sure you stop by the markets that meet in the Moana Pioneers' Memorial Hall every month on the second Sunday. The big blue banners flag their location and stalls overflow the hall and line the carpark.

December is a great time to visit the market. The hall is cool and inviting, the decorations are dazzling and the beautiful tree towers overhead. I heard Father Christmas himself is planning a visit.

There is so much to see, taste and smell from talented knitters, sewers, carpenters and cooks; card, candle and jewellery makers, book collectors and plant growers. There's a little bit of everything at Tashy's Craft Room . If you're not sure what present to buy, choose a lucky dip!

The is a long standing community tradition. Volunteers have been running the market for more than 25 years. I liked the camaraderie present amongst the wide age range of committee staff. Kitchen and accounting responsibilities were capably carried out by young teenage fellows. Our tasty bacon and egg toasties were skillfully prepared and served by young Ryan. All monies raised from stall fees, barbeque and kitchen sales are used to renovate and maintain the Hall.

Moana Pioneers' Memorial Hall is a true local hub of activity. Everyday of the week different community groups are meeting there to: have fun at playgroup, colour-in, do Yoga, Zumba, Calisthenics, Kung Fu, Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Fitness, Swordsmanship, ChiBall or attend Girl Guides. The Hall can be hired for weddings, celebrations or special events.

Gretel's TAKE specialize in fresh, homemade, preservative-free, baked goods, made with love. Pick up a yummy and healthy snack.

Moana December market is on the 13th December from 9.00am - 1.30pm. Father Christmas generally arrives with lollies at 11.00am. Parents are welcome to take photos of their children with Santa.

is at Moana Pioneers' Memorial Hall. Zoom on in.
