Climb the stairway to heaven and discover
tucked away upstairs of the restored heritage building at 618 Hay Street in the
Perth CBD. It's a balcony cafe&
#769 ; with an elixir for all ailments (and by this, I am obviously referring to the
5 Senses Specialty Coffee served which is so great it could practically solve world wars). The funky, eclectic space is shared with an exhibition also hosting Perth artists and musicians.
The balcony offers a warm, inviting atmosphere within which to kick back, relax and
soak in the view overlooking the Hay Street Mall. This can be this either in winter where you can sit comfortably protected from the elements and be mesmerized by the rain falling against the enclosure while clasping a mug of their beloved
London Fog, or basking in this glorious spring sunshine in the open air while cooling off with one of their delicious in-house bottles of cold brew coffee.
The
Cold Brew range includes flavours such as sparkling lime and ginger, almond milk and maple, classic sparkling orange (my personal favourite of the four) or just a straight up cold brew concentrate.

Now we need to have a chat about some serious business – the
bagels. They are sourced from the Holy Bagel Company (website
here ) who are trained as well as operating on legitimate machinery sourced from the globally renowned bagel experts,
New Yorkers. The chewy, glossy texture with a cloud-like softness to the centres... ah!, it takes me away. I simply cannot go past the
Blueberry Bagel served with Cream Cheese and Nutella, which could be all yours for only $6.50. There's a slight crispiness toasted around the edges, the warmth melting the filling down to a sweet, glorious swirl whereby you can't tell where the Nutella finishes and the cheese starts. All this is pleasantly offset by the tart berries.Doesn't the thought of it just take you away?
So if you're looking at your drab sandwich that was half-squashed during your commute to work, so that the mere thought of it crushes your soul -
perhaps consider how well simple, affordable and delicious food, quality specialty coffee and blissful, breezy views could make all your problems go away. It's a no-brainer, really.
Be sure to check out the promotions for on
Cupflick (a smartphone app offering discounts on specialty coffee) and save yourself some cash.
