Debra, a stay-at-home mum of three, loves experiencing and sharing all that Brisbane has to offer; especially southside secrets.
Every year my husband looks forward to Movember (the month formerly known as November). This is the one month of the year he does not have to worry about shaving and can grow some facial hair, for a good cause. Being the supportive wife that I am, I don't mind even though we coincidentally get family photos done at this time every year. So in most of our family portraits, my husband looks like a seventies porn star.
Movember is the month designated to raising awareness and funds for men's health issues especially prostate cancer and depression. The idea was actually conceived in 1999 by a group of Australian men and is now an internationally recognised event. Men who don a moustache or beard during the month of November are known as Mo Bros while their female supporters are known as Mo Sistas. To find out more information about Movember, to register or to donate visit the Movember Foundation .
Something I stumbled upon while surfing the net is Mo Fest!, a festival being held in Brisbane on Saturday, November 12th at the RNA Showgrounds from 5 pm until 11 pm. This all-ages festival features a DJ, live music, Latin dancing, and comedy. There will also be a jumping castle, dodgem cars, fire twirling and a laser light show. Early bird tickets are available until October 30th for $20. After that they will cost $25. Ticket price includes entry, entertainment, rides, games and more.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Movember Foundation.
