Meet MJ Wong. First, he was born into the w(r)ong family. When he found love, he then got married to the w(r)ong woman. Now, he's come to the Adelaide Fringe in the hopes of turning two w(r)ongs into a right with his solo comedy show, MJ Wong: In the Wong Family.
Labelling himself as the tallest Asian you will ever meet, Wong towers over audiences as he appears on stage, yet his laidback nature and authentic humour bring him back down to earth.
With a clicker in hand and TVs at the ready on either side, Wong takes audiences on a walk in his shoes through what he deems his "culturally confused childhood". From living with a dysfunctional family complete with a dad who rubs his nipples, to coming to terms with a failed marriage by stalking and publicly outing his ex-wife's male mistress – Wong has certainly had a tumultuous life being in the w(r)ong family.
What better way to deal with a painful divorce and the crippling fear of loneliness than by becoming a comedian! Although he may be unlucky in love, he certainly is lucky with laughs – leaving audiences with their cheeks and jaws aching after fifty minutes of guffaw-inducing comedy.
