The Mitzu Sushi Train

There is always a first time, and today was my first time to try the sushi train. I have already tried yum cha in the popular local Chinese restaurant, and the sushi train is a similar yet different experience: similar in the way food is served, but a totally different cuisine.
In a sushi train, small servings of sushi are freshly made and placed on a moving conveyor that travels round and round the main bar. Patrons just have to pick up anything that they fancy. It is that simple.
The sushi train at Mitzu is perfect for one's first time, and mine did not disappoint. There is quite a variety in the plates that run down the sushi train tracks, from salad ships to hand rolls. There was a sweet corn salad ship, a jelly fish salad ship, seaweed salad ship, and many other salad ships you can imagine. There was a salmon and avocado hand roll, chicken katsu hand roll, tempura prawn hand roll, and yes, many other hand rolls. There were also prawn cutlets, prawn parcel, scallops, crab craw, and others that I could not recall now.
Food is not too pricey at Mitzu. A plate in the sushi train starts at $3 and can go as high as $8. If dining out and sky is the limit, by all means just pick up any of the sushi plates that pass by. On the other hand, if there is need to temper your taste buds with affordability, prices are indicated by the dots on the plate. One dot means $3, two dots mean $3.5, three dots mean $4 and four dots mean $4.5, all for red plated sushi. The yellow plate costs $5.5 and the black one is $8.
Mitzu is a Japanese restaurant in Macquarie Centre, a few steps away from the Event cinemas. It is in the row of restaurants from the Herring Road entrance of the mall. It is not easy to miss, because it is strategically located at a corner spot. If you are nearby, do drop by and check out their sushi train. They've got variety and the food is good.
