There are four opportunity shops in the Mitcham shopping precinct.
1. ADRA
37 Enterprise Way.
Hours: Mon-Thurs. 9.30am to 4.00 pm, Fri: 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.
This appears to be a small and cluttered shop, which would have a lot packed into it. At the time of writing approval to take photos inside had not been received from head office.
2. Salvos
527-529 Whitehorse Road.
Hours: Mon-Fri. 9.00 am to 5.30 pm, Sat 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The Salvos store is quite large with the merchandise spread out and easily perused.
All op shops seem to have a book section. Salvos in Mitcham is like a small library with a large range of books, and CDs for those who prefer to listen rather than look.
The range of footwear is quite extensive, as is the range of bric-a-brac.
Naturally they also have the stock items of ops shops – clothes.
3. The Rotary Clothesline
432 Mitcham Road (near the railway).
Hours: Mon-Fri 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Sat 10.00 am to 12.30 pm.
This op shop is operated by the Mitcham Rotary Club, with a clever title as clothes are its major merchandise. It is only a small shop, but jam packed with a good range of items.
4. All Sorts
All Saints Church, 18 Edward Street.
Hours: Tue. to Thurs. 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.
The shop itself is in the old church building and has a very good range of merchandise.
Their clothing range is not large but there are plenty of other items to attract interest.
Books, bric-a-brac, china, toys, glassware and all sorts of other things are in this op shop.
All four shops are within walking distance of each other, with many coffee shops and cafés in between. If you are an op shop junkie it could be a day's outing of buying, eating and sipping.
