Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Mitch King has been confirmed for the Manjimup Truffle and Wine Festival. Known for his original southern blues, Australian folk, country and roots music, the southern Queenslander is heading west to appear at the Manjimup Gateway Hotel on June 24 and 25.
King's music is inspired by his love of life and sense of freedom, helping him top the charts with more than 50 million worldwide streams. In 2014, he independently released his first album
A Life Under The Sun with the single
Coming Back reaching new heights after it was picked up by US football team The Green Bay Packers to play at their opening game and share across social media.
Two years later, King's
Southerly Change EP went straight to the top of the blues chart and his single
Burning scored more than 3 million Spotify streams. "
The more you believe the more you'll create what you want out of life," Mitch said. "
Sometimes you have to let go of old ways of thinking and ingrained programs in the mind to sincerely believe in yourself, goals and passions."
During 2020 and 2021, Mitch focused on writing new music, collaborating with artists including Diesel, The Temper Trap and Pierce Brothers. He was also signed to the late Michael Gudinski's newest label, Reclusive Records.
Gudinski, responsible for the creation of Mushroom Records and the success of Skyhooks, Kylie Minogue, The Choirboys, Split Enz and Eskimo Joe, spoke about King's music before his death. "
I have always been fascinated with the one-man band concept," he said. "
After seeing Mitch perform live, I knew there was something unique and special about him. "
The fact Mitch's song Coming Back
was embraced by the NFL team The Green Bay Packers was a true testament to his songwriting and I was surprised that he wasn't already signed after that! The reaction we had after Mitch performed 5 Seconds Of Summer's track Youngblood
on [weekly live music series] The State Of Music
was incredible and it made it clear that we had to have him on Reclusive."
King spends many of his days travelling around Australia in his campervan, playing music at shows and festivals across the country – and is excited to be heading back to Western Australia. "
It's been far too long between visits and I'm excited to be playing two shows next month for the Manjimup Truffle and Wine Festival," he said.
