A Genuine American Diner Set in the 1950s

Why do so many people yearn for vintage or retro items, places, as well as, T.V. programs and movies? In my humble opinion, this is because many people long for a simpler, fun, energetic time that has been immortalized by the era of the 1950s. This period was best encapsulated through the American culture, especially their pop culture. You cannot help but consider the 1950s when you think about anything that is vintage or retro.
Not only will you step back in time when you walk into Misty's Diner but you will feel as though you are in a true-to-form American diner. From Elvis Presley to Marilyn Monroe memorabilia flanking the walls and Chuck Berry to The Penguins playing in the background, Misty's Diner immerses you in the classic 1950s-esque style diner.

The staff, not only dress in the fashion of the '50s, but they also adopt stage names and are very friendly. Their walls are filled with vintage American license plates, records and many retro signs and news clippings. Each pink and blue coloured booth is retrofitted with mini jukeboxes and a television just in case you get bored looking at all the American food products and décor!
If you think Misty's Diner is bright and cheery it is only because of the heart and soul behind the name and face of this retro restaurant, Misty. Her husband, Nick explained, "Misty makes incredible creations that work wonders." All meals listed on the menu are original recipes created by Misty, herself.
Misty's Diner began as a simple car wash with an empty space next door. Misty saw potential there and with Nick's business savvy they started selling a few burgers from that space. Since those humble beginnings, the Diner has been a staple in the Prahran "area for 14 years" now. A few years ago, they opened a second location in Reservoir. Nick was happy to announce they are "planning to expand again later this year." The idea behind the upcoming site will feature a decked area with live entertainment and smoked foods. They plan to give their new restaurant more of an "American rustic" feel—think cowboys and Texas.
You will find basic American foods and drinks at Misty's Diner and they always celebrate the American holidays: the 4th of July and Thanksgiving! If you have ever been curious about how Americans celebrate their Independence Day or Thanksgiving Day, check out the Misty's Diner website for dates, then visit their Prahran location and see for yourself!
Even Taylor Swift couldn't resist enjoying an American meal with her band at Misty's Diner after her Fearless tour in February 2010! Fame aside, this is truly a family affair with Nick running the business side of Misty's Diner; Misty is left to create her version of classic meals with their two daughters rounding out the equation. "Alexis is the Social Media guru" behind the Misty's Diner media campaign and "Tiffany is the dessert guru."
I'm still hungry, said no one ever at Misty's Diner!
While there, I enjoyed the chicken quesadilla and a dirty root beer float, my new favourite adult beverage! Misty understands the portions at her diner are insanely large so they are happy to let you take home what you cannot finish. They will even make your shakes and desserts to go!
While I was enjoying my meal, Olivia Newton-John's Hopelessly Devoted to You played over the speakers. I watched as Ginger R, a.k.a. Jacinda moved around the diner and tidied up. Suddenly, she began to belt out the words along with Olivia and it blew me away. She continued to sing along to the hit song from the movie Grease and for a moment I was transported to that era. Not only does Jacinda sing but she looks like a 1950s pinup model!
The restaurant has plenty of American soft drinks (sodas), beers, candy and various food related products that you can purchase in addition to your meal or afterward, to enjoy at home. You can also purchase a variety of Misty's Diner apparel and Misty is always thrilled to give you her autograph!
Misty's Diner has a Burger Challenge at both their Prahran and Reservoir locations! "You have 14 minutes to eat the 5 burger, 5 slices of cheese, 5 slices of bacon, 3 buns AND a 1/2 order of your choice of fries!" The Burger Challenge will cost you $35 and it comes with a 6ooml coke. Between the two locations there have been over 1,895 attempts and 272 winners!
If you go to the Misty's Diner website, you will find a secret menu and learn how you can have your very own 1950s style party with a personalized cake and cruise around in a pink limo. They even cater! "Here at the Diner, we can cater for any function, birthday, wedding, engagement, reunion and much more." If you can't enjoy the 1950s-esque diner, then why not bring it to you?
If you love the essence of the '50s and want to eat at a 1950s-esque American diner or just need a retro fix, then visit Misty's Diner and enjoy a real American meal and meet the legend herself, Misty!
